Mirespe Pierre Obituary

Mirespe passed peacefully on the evening of November 18, 2023, after a gradual decline in
health. She was surrounded by her loving family during the last hours of her life. Mirespe
(mimi/mignou), daughter of the late Aristomene Celestin and Carmilite Laurent, granddaughter
of the late Leristuce Celestin, Daniel Laurent, and Alexandrine Toussaint, was born on March
27, 1952, in Jacmel, Haiti. She received her elementary education from Sister of Bel-Air
Academy (Haiti) and high school at the Lycee du Cent Cinquantenaire (Haiti). Her Business
and Professional schooling started in Haiti at both Elie Dubois and Maurice Laroche. She
immigrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1979 to live with her beloved sister Marie Jocelyn St. Louis
(JoJo), and her brother-in-law Eric St. Louis. While in Brooklyn, she attended Medgar Evers
College for English and Grammar, then entered the business program for design and draping at
the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Mirespe enjoyed her independence as a young
professional through fashion and interior design.
Mirespe was blessed to find love twice in her lifetime. First with Jean-Wilfred Cadet (marriage:
1976 -1982) then with Gary Pierre (marriage: 1984 - 1991) Through both unions, she was
blessed with her daughter Wilifredia and son Garrick.
Provided with a new opportunity, Mirespe began work at Republic National Bank in 1986 as a
clerk in the charge account department. She then transferred over to JPMorgan Chase
Manhattan Bank in 1987 to Global Custody in Trade Input. Soon after in 1988, moved to
Financial Control Department/Risk Management. Mirespe was with JPMorgan for 30 years
(retired in 2018), during which she formed long-lasting friendships. She was loving and
although her advice and words were blunt, her intentions were always sincere.
Mirespe was cherished by her family and friends for her elegance and grace. She is a role
model for those who love her. Her sophistication resonates with her daughter and son. Her
favorite moments were spent with her granddaughter (Miya) and grandsons (Kameron and
Jeremiah).
Her beautiful life will forever be treasured in the lives of her children: Wilifredia Cadet and
Garrick Pierre; her three grandchildren: Miya, Kameron, and Jeremiah; siblings: Claudette
Celestin, Serge Celestin, Marie-Jocelyn St. Louis, RoseMarie Celestin, Janine Celestin, Hernz
Celestin, and Jacques Celestin; cousins: Dr. Bishop Daniel Laurent, Lulu Laurent, Nadege
Laurent, Joubert Laurent, and Pero Laurent; Sister-in-laws: Chantale Maxi and Yanick Maxi;
Brother-in-Law: Eric St. Louis; Nephews: Junior, Patrick, Rodney, Sergio, Ralph, and Nick;
Nieces: Joline and Orika; grandnephew: Preston; grandniece: Nyla.
