Joseph Kevin Goodwin, the son of Elizabeth G. Belle, was born on January 4 th , 1964 in Jersey City, NJ.
He entered into eternal rest on March 20, 2024
As a young boy, Joseph better known as Kevin moved to Bamberg, SC to live with his grandmother after
the passing of his grandfather. During those years, he attended the Bamberg Richard Carole Junior High
School. Joseph was enjoying the Southern life until the passing of his grandmother. By then, Joseph
moved back to Jersey City to live with his parents.
Joseph(Kevin) attended Snyder High School, Go Tigers! and later received his diploma. He also studied to
be a barber receiving his certificate. He didn’t stop there because now he decided he was going to help
people so more training to become an orderly and yes he received his certificate. So now Kevin is
helping them feel better and cutting hair to help them look sharp.
Kevin didn’t stop. He studied at Rutgers University, Newark, NJ for two years to become a counselor.
Kevin kept growing to become a man of many trades. Kevin was employed with various jobs.
During Kevin’s stay with his grandmother, he attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Midway
Community, Bamberg, SC. He was active in the youth department and other activities. Once relocated
back to Jersey City, he attended and later joined Mt. Pisgah African Methodist Church. He was very
active in the church school and other youth activities.
Joseph (Kevin) loved baseball, watching the Yankees and the Mets. Most of all he loved cracking jokes
with his brother, friends and family. If you knew him, no one was off limits for the jokes.
Joseph affectionately (known as Kevin and Star) to his friends loved dressing. He knew he had style, from
head to toe matching and stepping like he was the sharpest thing walking.
One of the best things about Joseph (Kevin) that will be missed most is the times he called or visited you,
he always said mom/cuttie ‘I love you’.
Joseph was preceded by his brother Daryl and his loving grandparents.
Joseph leaves to cherish his memory mother Elizabeth, four nephews: Tareef, Darius, Darrell and Noah,
one grandniece Essence, one uncle Rev. Hamp Posser (Hattie) of Santee, SC, Rebecca Goodwin, Caroline
Goodwin, and a host of loving relatives and friends.
