Frederick Henry Myers, Sr. “AKA” Fred, Meatball, Pop Pop was born in Macon, Georgia on October 16, 1939 to the late John Henry Myers and Mary Luvenia Holmes-Myers. Fred was the 2nd oldest child of 8 siblings. Frederick departed this life peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at home in Villa Rica, GA.
Frederick was educated in the Jersey Public School System and received his diploma from Dickinson High School. He was employed as a machine operator at Hi-Torc Motors in Carlstadt, NJ for over 25 years. Frederick then became the President of Local Union 431 and was a Union officer of Local 485 for more than 20 years until his retirement in 2008.
Frederick was a Mason and held the highest title of Sovereign Grand Commander 33/90.
Frederick’s 1st marriage to Mary Lockhart-Myers produced 5 children: Jessie, Frederick Jr, Yvonne, Eric and Dwayne. His 2nd marriage was to the late Alma Flowers-Deloach-Myers.
Frederick better known as “Meatball” was a name given by the fellas in the pool hall at TJ’s. He loved going to pool halls all around Jersey City. He surely knew how to break the rack and run the table.
In his early years, he enjoyed piling his children and in-laws in his blue station wagon and traveling to Reading, PA to see family. He loved the New York Giants. He always greeted you with a big smile and a hearty laugh. He loved doing family cookouts. When you ride along with him, you needed to be ready and on time otherwise you will get left behind. Being late was not an option.
Fred is preceded in death by his wife Alma Flowers-Deloach-Myers, parents John Henry and Mary Luvenia Myers, two sisters Carolyn Myers, Gwen Freeman, one brother Thomas Myers and a special friend Stephanie James.
Fred is survived by his daughters Jessie (Ralph) Bell of Carteret, NJ, Yvonne (Joel) Cruickshank of Villa Rica, GA, sons Frederick, Jr. (Patricia) Myers, Eric (Shawntay) Myers of Jersey City, NJ Dwayne McCaslin of Camden, NJ, two sisters Jacqueline (Sonny) Felder of Snellville, GA, Sharon Myers-Shabazz of East Orange, NJ – two brothers John Henry Myers, Jr. of Soledad, CA, David (Joyce) Myers of Savannah, GA. 17 Grandchildren Sakisha (Eric) Bell-Granger, Rakem Bell, Mark (Bianca) Myers, Malcolm (Kimberly) Myers, Orlando Myers, Nhkira (Troy) Cofield, Jasmine (Andre) Marcus, Frederick Cooper, Scott Fredericks, Whitney Hasphil, Joshua James, Tiffany Daniels, Jaclyn Daniels, Rameka Daniels, Jaleeah Pridgen, Jaden Pridgen and Jasmyn Pridgen. 36 Great Grands, One special cousin Eartha Neal Jackson of Sebring, FL.
